CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team dropped to 1-3-1 on the season after falling to UNCW (6-1) 1-0 in Conway, on Thursday evening at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
 
The two teams played a scoreless first half with UNCW outshooting the Chants six to one and attempting three corner kicks to CCU's zero.
 
The Seahawks broke open the scoring with Morgan Nanni grabbing a rebound off several players just outside the box and fired a strike that hit the crossbar and spun into the net to make it one to nil in the 64th minute, in favor of the visitors.
 
The Seahawks outshot Coastal 18-6 overall and 8-to-2 in corner kicks. Hannah Miller paced the Chanticleer offense with four shots, two being on frame. Miller's first shot on goal made the UNCW goalie dive to keep CCU off the scoreboard.
 
Despite allowing the lone goal of the match, Rylee Atteberry made six saves with five coming in the second half.
 
Coastal Carolina returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 9, as they will travel to Columbia, S.C. to take on the 19th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks. The opening kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
