Jonesboro, Ark. – Gabby Smychynsky and Mackenzie Gibbs led the Coastal Carolina women's soccer team to a 2-1 road victory against Arkansas State in Jonesboro, Ark., Friday afternoon. With the win, the Chanticleers improved to 6-8-2 overall and a 4-4-1 Sun Belt record while the Red Wolves fell to 8-5-3 on the season and 4-2-3 in conference action.

CCU's senior defender Smychynsky put the first tally on the scoreboard when classmate Hannah Miller found the Wexford, Pa., native for the 1-0 lead in the 54th minute. The strike by Smychynsky would be her third of the season.

Arkansas State's Julianna Coates evened the match up at 1-1 in the 83rd minute with the unassisted goal.

With time winding down, Gibbs would hit the back of the net in the 88th minute for the 2-1 Chanticleer advantage. The unassisted goal was the second goal of the year for the Atlanta, Ga., native.
