Coastal Carolina women’s team goes 5-5 on Thursday and Friday
Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team traveled to the state of North Carolina to compete in the ITA Carolina Regionals. The Chanticleers finished the first two days of competition with a record of 5-5 combined in doubles action and singles play.
On Thursday, CCU's team of Somer Dalla-Bona and Jessie Mount went 1-1 in doubles play. The duo opened play with an 8-0 victory over Maru Berghaus and Frida Cnossen of North Carolina Central. In the proceeding match, Dalla-Bona and Mount fell the No. 2 seeded team of Makenna Jones and Cameron Morra from North Carolina.
In the Main Draw of singles play, Dalla-Bona opened play with a straight-set victory over Gabriela Martinez Asensi before falling to No. 5 seed Alana Smith of N.C. State 6-1, 6-4.
Coastal's Mount had a 3-0 record in the B1 Main Draw. The junior from Melbourne, Australia began her day with identical 6-1 straight-set victory over Lilie Streyous of Wofford before taking two more straight-set wins over Ariana Chan of UNCG and Lea Cutura of Campbell.
