CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 loss to Furman Friday afternoon in a home match at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
Coastal drops to 1-2 overall with the loss while Furman improves to 6-1 on the season.
Furman took an early lead after capturing the doubles point and continued to put the pressure on in singles.
Furman's No. 2 pairing Katty Weymouth and Madison Dillon defeated Coastal's Somer Dalla-Bona and Alexa Tiefel, 6-0. The doubles point was then won on the first court where Katarina Kozarov and Julia Adams bested Jennifer Brown and Jessie Mount, 6-1.
The No. 3 doubles match went unfinished with Furman's Kerman/Melville leading Coastal's Zduniak/Demcenkova 4-3.
Furman finished off the match by winning three straight singles points, all in straight sets, on courts two, four and five.
The first, third and sixth singles matches went unfinished.
Coastal is back in action at home next Saturday when the Chants host Charlotte for a 2 p.m. match.
