Alan Connie Shamrock Invite Day 2 Results
MYRTLE BEACH - On Day 2 of the
Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, the Coastal Carolina men's and women's track and field team finish the day with six top-five times and a track record broken by sophomore
Adriaan Wildschutt in the 3000 meters.
Men
Wildschutt broke the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium record for the 3000 meters as the distance runner ran 8:20.87 for first place.
Matthew Evans ran his first 3000-meter event of the season and placed inside the top 20 with a time of 9:22.35.
Kahlim Denmark returned to the track for the first time in his last season and added a first-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 21.49 (2.0). Sophomore
Ty Floyd placed fourth with a personal best time of 21.49 (2.0).
In the open 100 meters, newcomer Tyrese Johnson-Fisher placed in ninth place with a time of 10.97 (3.8).
Johnson-Fisher came back later in the day and competed in the and ran in the 100 meter invite as he place in 20
th place with a time of 11.05, but it was his teammate junior
Devin Pringle that finished fourth in the qualifier for Saturday's final with a time of 10.71 (1.7).
Two Chanticleer sophomores
Kermit Jackson, and
Elijah Lawson both placed inside the top 20 in the mile run with sub five minute times; Jackson (4:50.94) and Lawson 4:58.43.
In the 400 meters, freshman
Charlie Martinez finished the event in eighth place with a time of 53.67. Sophomore
Ty Floyd placed inside the top 20 with a time of 56.94.
Connor Langdon finished in the top 15 of the 110-meter hurdles as the junior finished with a time of 15.75.
Women
Junior
Giovanna Leone added a personal best in the 3000 meters as she ran 11:14.22 breaking her previous personal best of 11:23.60 and placing in the top 15.
Alyssa Lynch competed in the 3000 meters for the first time this season and the freshman ran a time of 12:22.54.
In the women's pole vault, freshman
Katie Bond matched her personal best mark of her young career as she reached 2.90 meters on her fourth throw of the day, placing fifth.
Freshman
Cameron Rice also finished inside the top 20 in the 800 meters with a time of 2:44.01.
Coastal will be on the track for the final day of the
Alan Connie Shamrock Invite tomorrow starting at 10 a.m.
