JONESBORO, Ark. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team won its first Sun Belt Conference match of the season on Saturday as the Chanticleers defeated Arkansas State, 4-0, at the A-State Tennis Complex.
With Saturday's win Coastal evens both its overall and conference records at 6-6, 1-1.
Coastal's sweep began with wins on the second and third doubles courts. Jennifer Brown and Jessie Mount at No. 2, and Alexa Tiefel and Alicja Zduniak at No. 3 both picked up 6-3 victories. The No. 1 match went unfinished.
Somer Dalla-Bona provided the first singles point with a straight-sets win at No. 3. Zduniak gave the Chants a 3-0 lead with a win at No. 4. The match-clincher was won Tiefel at No. 6.
Coastal now returns to Conway to begin a four-match home stand. The first half of that stretch will feature back-to-back nonconference contests against Fairfield (March 19) and West Virginia State (March 20).
