Coastal to Host UCONN Huskies

The Chanticleers Women’s Lacrosse Return Home

CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team will host the first-ever meeting against the UCONN Huskies of the American Athletic Conference. The contest will be held at Brooks Stadium on the campus of CCU in Conway, S.C., with the opening draw scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19.
 
Coastal enters the contest with a 3-2 record while the Huskies hold a 1-6 record on the season.
 
The Chanticleers are led on offense by Haley Alexander (13 goals and six assists) with 19 points followed by Madeline Bromley and Samantha Courtemanche each with 15 points, on ten goals and five assists. Defensively, Harley Barrett minds the net making 39 saves with a .453 save percentage allowing 10.95 goals per game. Emily D'Orsaneo and Megan Kilpatrick help anchor the Chants defense with nine caused turnovers and scooping 14 ground balls, and eight caused turnovers and five ground balls respectively.
 
Last time out for CCU, the Chanticleers picked up a 14-10 win over the Delaware Blue Hens, March 9. Megan Busch tallied four points getting the hat trick in goals and picking up one assist while Jordan Harrell, Haley Kyger, Alexander, Bromley, and Courtemanche each scored two goals. Barrett made ten saves, and D'Orsaneo scooped three ground balls on the defensive end.
 
UCONN's offense is paced by the trio of Sydney Watson (17 goals and six assists), Olivia Miles (11 goals and one assist) and Caitlin Leary (nine goals and one assist), the only Huskies with double digits in points. Defensively, UCONN's Grace Beshlian and Annie Carroll have split the seven starts in goal, combining for 76 saves with Beshlian claiming 51 and the lone win for the Huskies, while Jaqueline Manno has seven caused turnovers and 11 ground balls.
 
UCONN dropped a 13-7 decision to Columbia its last time out, March 16. The Huskies offense was led by Miles with the hat trick and on defense by Alyssa Conklin with two caused turnovers and three ground balls. Beshlian earned the start and tallied 13 saves.
