CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina softball (23-7, 4-3 SBC) fell to the Troy Trojans (19-13, 3-4) by the score of 11-3 on Friday afternoon at St. John Stadium. The Trojans Madeline Porter went 2-for-4 in the game with a homer and four runs batted in.

With two on and one out in the second, Troy's Kaylee Chapman picked up a single to right field, scoring Stephanie Snyder, but the ball was misplayed by Chanticleer Stavi Augur allowing the trail runner to advance to third.  The next batter, sophomore starter Kaitlin Beasley-Polko induced a line out to shortstop Alexis Alvino, but senior threw an errant ball over to first on double play attempt but went into the Trojans dugout, scoring Kelly Horne.  Porter then put Troy up by four as she connected with her second of the season with a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the fourth, sophomore Courtney Dean added a two-run homer off Troy starter Leanna Johnson. With her tenth home run, the sophomore has been able to hit safely in her last three games.

Troy added three more in the sixth, but CCU was looking to keep the game alive with two outs in the their half of the sixth when freshman Abbey Montoya hit her fifth home run of the season off Johnson, making it 11-3.  Next batter, freshman Mackenzie kept the rally going with double into left center but Johnson finished off the game, getting senior Natalie David to pop up to second to end the threat.

The freshman Beyer added two hits on the day to improve her batting average to .308 for the season.

Johnson went the distance for her 13th win of the season as she allowed seven hits, three runs on eight strikeouts.
