CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team won its fourth straight match overall and second straight against a Sun Belt opponent Friday afternoon as the Chanticleers defeated Troy, 4-2, at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
With the win Coastal improves to 9-6, 2-1, Troy, meanwhile, falls to 8-6 overall and 2-1 in Sun Belt matches as the Trojans suffer their first conference loss of the year.
Coastal claimed the match's doubles point with wins on the first and second courts. Jennifer Brown and Jessie Mount started with a 6-0 sweep of Chunxi Guo and Ju Pei Hsieh at No. 1. Somer Dalla-Bona and Viktorija Demcenkova clinched the point with a 6-3 win at No. 2.
Dalla-Bona (No. 3) and Mount (No. 5) gave Coastal its second and third points with straight-sets wins in singles. Demcenkova provided a three-set win at No. 1.
Troy's two points came from Celia Estevan (No. 4) and Guo (No. 6).
Coastal remains at home to host South Alabama on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
