Chanticleers to Open ASUN Conference Play

Coastal Carolina women’s lacrosse to host Kent State

CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team will begin ASUN Conference play on Tuesday, March 26 as they will host first-year member Kent State inside Brooks Stadium. The opening draw is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
 
CCU is entering the contest 5-2 overall, while Kent State is 0-9 on the season. It is the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
 
The last time out, Coastal got an overtime golden-goal from junior Lyla Robinson to pick up a 12-11 victory over the College of William & Mary. Seniors Haley Alexander and Haley Kyger each tallied a hat-trick to lead the offense, while defensively, Harley Barrett made 13 saves with four ground balls and Megan Kilpatrick caused four turnovers and scooped three ground balls.
 
On the season, the Chants offense is led by Alexander with 29 (21 goals and eight assists) points, Samantha Courtemanche (16 goals and eight assists) with 24 points and Madeline Bromley with 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points. The defense is anchored by Barrett with 65 saves and 15 ground balls in between the pipes, along with Emily D'Orsaneo who has caused 10 turnovers and picked up 18 ground balls and Kilpatrick who has 13 turnovers and eight ground balls respectively.
 
Kent State is coming off a 20-12-20 loss to Gardner-Webb. Megan Kozar (four goals and two assists) and Abby Jones (three goals and one assist) paced the offensive attack for the Golden Flashes while Grace Merrill picked up 11 saves in goal on the defensive end.
 
The Golden Flashes' are led by Kozar (21 goals and six assists), Jones (15 goals and nine assists), Lluna Katz (13 goals), and Graceyn Dean (six goals and six assists) with 27, 24, 13 and 12 points respectively. Defensively, Merrill has picked up the bulk of the time in goal tallying 115 stops while grabbing 30 ground balls. Malissa Beall has caused 11 turnovers and scooped seven ground balls for a defense that is allowing 17.1 goals per game.
