COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team suffered a 4-1 loss at No. 11 South Carolina Wednesday evening in the Chants' final nonconference dual of the regular season.
 
The Chanticleers drop to 11-9 overall this season, and 0-2 in matches against South Carolina. Coastal was previously defeated by then-No.10 South Carolina, 5-0, on March 9 at the CCU Beach Volleyball Complex.
 
Coastal's fifth pairing of Anett Nemeth and Kalin Eske provided the lone point of the match for the Chants. The duo split the first two sets with Lauryn Gillis and Quinn Fulton, 21-19, 14-21, before finishing the match strong in the third set, 15-9.
 
South Carolina claimed the remaining four courts in straight sets, as well as the extension match at No. 6.
 
With its nonconference schedule finished, Coastal faces ASUN opponents for the remainder of the 2019 regular season.
 
The Chants have this weekend off, but return to action next weekend hosting the Conway Classic at the CCU Beach Volleyball Complex. The two-day event (April 5-6) includes matches against Austin Peay and Morehead State. That Sunday (April 7), Coastal also hosts a home doubleheader against Jacksonville State.
