Coastal Carolina to Face Delaware

Chanticleers women’s lacrosse to close two-game road trip

CONWAY – Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse will close out the two-game road trip, on Saturday, March 9, as they face the Delaware Blue Hens of the Colonial Athletic Association, before a five-game homestand. The opening draw is scheduled for noon.
 
The Chanticleers (2-2) will face the Blue Hens (2-3) for the first time. Teams from the CAA hold a 7-0 record against CCU.
 
Coastal Carolina is coming off of an 11-7 loss to the Big South's Winthrop Eagles. Samantha Courtemanche paced the Chants offense with three goals and Megan Busch with two goals and two assists for 4 points. Defensively, Coastal was led by Anya McSorley (two caused turnovers and one ground ball) and Emily D'Orsaneo (two caused turnovers and three groundballs). Harley Barrett made five saves while facing 21 shots.
 
For the season, CCU's trio of Haley Alexander (11 goals and five assists), Courtemanche (8 goals and five assists) and Madeline Bromley (8 goals and four assists) are the leading point scorers with 16, 13 and 12 respectively, while the offense is averaging 11.75 goals per game. Defensively, the Chants, who are allowing 10.75 goals per game, are anchored by goalkeeper Barrett with 29 saves and D'Orsaneo who has caused eight turnovers and collected 11 groundballs.
 
Delaware's offense, which is averaging 8.80 goals per game, is led by Christine Long (14 goals and one assist) and Sydney Rausa (12 goals and one assist), while the defense, which is allowing 10.80 goals per game, is held down by goalkeeper Kate Brewster with 43 saves and Chante Simms with seven ground balls while causing 10 turnovers.
 
The Blue Hens will be looking to get back in the win column after a 15-11 setback against #18 ranked Georgetown, on Saturday, March 2. The UD offense was led by Mia DeRuggiero (one goal and three assists) with four points, Long and Rausa each scoring three goals for three points. Defensively, the Blue Hens was paced by goalkeeper Brewster who made eight saves and scooped three ground balls and Simms with two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
