Arlington, Texas - For the second straight day, the UT Arlington Mavericks (24-23, 12-9 Sun Belt) rallied in the fifth inning with three runs to defeat the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (32-15, 11-10 Sun Belt) by the score of 6-4 at Allan Saxe Field.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the first, the Mavericks took a 2-0 lead on a Brittany Wyllie bloop-single into center field scoring lead runners Bri Burchianti and Laura Curry.

The Chanticleers answered with two of their own in the top of the second off Laura Henrikson. Senior
Natalie David led off with an infield single and then freshman
Adrienne Visintine followed it up with her fifth home run of the season.

CCU took a 4-2 lead in the top of the fourth as David led off with her second double of the season before
Samantha Sack hit a straightaway home run over the center field fence for her sixth of the season.

The Mavericks cut the Chanticleers lead to one in the bottom of the fourth as Melanie Mendoza tripled down the first base line off the diving attempt by Chanticleer second baseman
Abbey Montoya. The ball squirted off the freshman's glove allowing Avery Grimes to score from first base.

Arlington chased Chanticleer starter
Kaitlin Beasley-Polko from the game in the bottom of the fifth as they picked up three runs to take a 6-4 lead. Wyllie got her third hit of the day with the game-tying single into left field and the next batter KJ Murphy added her one and only hit of the day with a two-run double.

Reliever Allie Gardiner pitched the final three innings for the Mavericks to improve her season record to 5-5. The freshman struck out two and did not allow a run.

Sophomore Beasley-Polko took the loss for CCU and falls to 21-10 on the season. The Leonardtown, Md., native pitched 4.2 innings on the day and gave up six runs on 11 hits.

For the second straight day, David led CCU at the plate with two hits. The Evansville, Ind, native went 2-for-3 on the day with a double and a single.

The Chanticleers return to action on Tuesday in non-conference play to face the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. at 5:00 p.m. ET.
