CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team posted consecutive 5-0 victories over Jacksonville State Sunday afternoon as the Chanticleers played their final home duals of the 2019 season at the CCU Beach Volleyball Complex.
Coastal improves to 17-9 (6-0 ASUN) with Sunday's wins. Following the second dual the team recognized the five members of its senior class –
Anaiah Boyer,
Aleksandra Djuric,
Leah Hardeman,
Kate Federico and
Shelby Ladewig – who were playing in their final home matches as Chanticleers.
Coastal kept its same pairings for both matches.
Hardeman and
Sydney Alvis, playing at No. 1, won their first match in three sets and took the second match in two sets, 21-19, 21-14.
At No. 2, Boyer and
Lucy Campbell won their first match 21-16, 21-18, and won the second match by forfeit after an injured JSU student-athlete could not finish out the match.
The third court saw Federico and
Tanner Gauthier sweep both matches, winning 21-11, 21-12 and 21-18, 21-12.
The 4's and 5's likewise recorded consecutive sweeps. The former included Ladewig and Djuric winning 21-11, 21-17 and 21-18, 21-8, while the latter duo of
Kalin Eske and
Anett Nemeth turned in wins of 21-11, 21-11 and 21-18, 21-8.
On the sixth court,
Haylie Beck and
Ann-Katrine Hakansson fell in their first match before the second in three sets.
Coastal closes out the regular season on Friday with a pair of duals at North Alabama. The doubleheader is slated to begin at noon ET.
