Deneen and Artac Qualify for U.S. Open Sectionals

Coastal Carolina men’s golf duo of Deneen and Artac placed in the top-four of the U.S. Open Local qualifying event
Wallace, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina duo of Morgan Deneen and Wes Artac both finished in the top four of the U.S. Open Local Qualifying held at the River Landing Country Club in Wallace, N.C. on Wednesday.
Deneen placed in a tie for second-place overall with a round of 69, -3 under par. The redshirt senior, who finished eight strokes behind the leader, shot a 35, -1 under par, on the front nine with two birdies and an eagle, and a 34, -2 under par, on the back nine highlighted by three-straight birdies on No. 13, 14 and 15.
Finishing just one stroke back of Deneen and in fourth-place overall was Artac with his round of 70, -2 under par. The Texas native claimed the final qualifying spot with three birdies, 12 pars and one bogey on the day. He carded two birdies on the front nine en route to a 35, -1 under par, and one birdie and eight pars for a 35, -1 under par, on the back nine.
U.S. Open Sectionals will take place May 20 – June 3 with a total of 12 different events taking place over the United States, Canada, Japan, and England.
Both Deneen and Artac will find out which sectional qualifying event they will be participating in later this month once all the local qualifying tournaments have concluded on May 13.
