Taylor and Artac Garner All-Sun Belt Accolades

Coastal Carolina junior Zack Taylor was named the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year
New Orleans, La. – Coastal Carolina's Zack Taylor and Wes Artac both earned All-Sun Belt men's golf postseason accolades, the Sun Belt Conference office announced on Thursday, May 23.
Taylor was named to the All-Sun Belt first team and was tabbed the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year, the second-straight Chanticleer to win the award after Morgan Deneen received the honor last year, while Artac earned a spot on the All-Sun Belt second team.
Taylor, who wrapped up his season with a 20th-place finish at the NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional from May 13-15, led the team with a 71.33 stroke average over 36 rounds of play. His 71.33 stroke average this season is second in CCU history behind only Dustin Johnson (2006-07) while his 21 rounds of par or better on the season rank fourth all-time in Coastal history, again behind only Johnson.
The top Chant golfer in six events on the season, Taylor posted five top-five finishes and nine top-25 finishes on the year. He finished runner-up at the Northern Intercollegiate with rounds of 74, 68 and 72 for a 54-hole score of 214, -2 under par, and placed in a tie for third in back-to-back events at the Furman Intercollegiate and the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native led the Chants to the team title with a 54-hole score of 208, -5 under par, with rounds of 69, 71 and 68 at the Furman Intercollegiate, which is tied for the eighth-lowest 54-hole score in CCU history.
Artac's lone season at Coastal was perhaps the best of his intercollegiate career, as the Texas Tech transfer was second on the team with a 72.18 scoring average over 33 rounds of play. The Texas native was also second on the team with six rounds in the 60's, 15 rounds of par or better and a total of four top-20 finishes.
Artac carded a career-low round 64 in the second round of the Furman Intercollegiate, which is tied for the second-lowest 18-hole round in CCU history, and shot a 67 over the final round of play at the Maridoe Intercollegiate and in the first round of the 2019 Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship. The top Coastal performer in three events at the Maridoe Intercollegiate, the Furman Intercollegiate and the Mason Rudolph Championship, he took second-place overall at the Furman Intercollegiate, leading the Chants to the team title with rounds of 69, 64 and 73 for a 54-hole tournament score of 206, -7 under par, which is tied for the sixth-lowest 54-hole tournament score in CCU history. His 36-hole score of 133, -9 under par, at the Furman Intercollegiate is the tied for the lowest-36-hole tournament score in CCU history. He also took runner-up honors at the Maridoe Intercollegiate, finishing tied for second with rounds of 74, 74 and 67 for a 54-hole score of 215, +5.
