Coastal Carolina junior Zack Taylor continues to garner postseason accolades
Fayetteville, Ark. – Coastal Carolina's Zack Taylor continues to receive postseason honors for his 2018-19 season, as the junior was named to the Division I PING All-Region East team the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced earlier this week.
Taylor was named to the All-Sun Belt first team and was tabbed the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year earlier this month, becoming the second-straight Chanticleer to win the award after Morgan Deneen received the honor last year.
Taylor, who wrapped up his season with a 20th-place finish at the NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional from May 13-15, led the team with a 71.33 stroke average over 36 rounds of play. His 71.33 stroke average this season is second in CCU history behind only Dustin Johnson (2006-07) while his 21 rounds of par or better on the season rank fourth all-time in Coastal history, again behind only Johnson.
The top Chant golfer in six events on the season, Taylor posted five top-five finishes and nine top-25 finishes on the year. He finished runner-up at the Northern Intercollegiate with rounds of 74, 68 and 72 for a 54-hole score of 214, -2 under par, and placed in a tie for third in back-to-back events at the Furman Intercollegiate and the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native led the Chants to the team title with a 54-hole score of 208, -5 under par, with rounds of 69, 71 and 68 at the Furman Intercollegiate, which is tied for the eighth-lowest 54-hole score in CCU history.
