Artac and Deneen Compete at U.S. Open Sectional in Georgia

Coastal Carolina men’s golf members Artac and Deneen both wrapped up play on Monday at Hawks Ridge Golf Club
Ball Ground, Ga. – Coastal Carolina's Wes Artac and Morgan Deneen both wrapped up play at the U.S. Open Sectional on Monday afternoon with second round scores of 68, -4 under par, as the two Chanticleer golfers both finished under par over the two rounds of play at the qualifying event held at the Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground, Ga.
Artac posted rounds of 72 and 68 to finish in a tie for 17th overall with a 36-hole score of 140, -4 under par. The Texas native carded four birdies over his first round of play but saw a double bogey on hole No. 18 push his score back to a 72, even par. He rebounded in the afternoon session to shoot six birdies en route to his second round 68, -4 under par, to climb into the top-20 overall.
Deneen shot a first round 75, +3, but bounced back with a second round 68, -4 under par, in the afternoon session to finish in a tie for 31st overall with a two-round combined score of 143, -1 under par. The California native had an up-and-down first round with four birdies, three bogeys and two double bogeys, but settled in to register seven birdies over his second 18-holes of play.
The top four golfers in Ollie Schniederjans (133, -11), Noah Norton (133, -11), Chandler Eaton (135, -9) and Roberto Castro (135,-9) qualified for the 119th U.S. Open Championship which will be held at the Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, Calif., on June 10-16.
