Conway, S.C. – Due to South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster stating that all schools and state government agencies in Horry and Georgetown counties beginning Sept. 3 will be closed and a mandatory evacuation for parts of the local area, Coastal Carolina University has canceled on-campus classes as well as closed campus due to impending weather from Hurricane Dorian.
Classes will continue with the implementation of the University's academic continuity plan, which is a temporary shift to digital learning while the campus is closed.
With the campus closure, the Chanticleer fall sports teams will relocate for the immediate future.
Student-athletes on teams that are not in season are students first and will evacuate to safe locations of their choosing off of campus.
Men's and Women's Cross Country: Traveled to Charlotte, N.C. as a team. Their next meet, the Buccaneer Open hosted by Charleston Southern, on Sept. 7 has been canceled.
Football: Traveled to Greenville, S.C. on Monday and will train there before flying out to Kansas on Friday for their game versus Kansas on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. ET.
Men's Golf: Will head to Wisconsin on Tuesday, Sept. 3, in preparation for their season-opening event at the Badger Invitational on Sept. 8-10
Women's Golf: Traveled as a team to Columbia, S.C. to practice in preparation for their first fall event in two weeks.
Men's Soccer: Also traveled to Charlotte, N.C. ahead of their Friday night road contest versus the Charlotte 49ers at 7 p.m. ET.
Women's Soccer: Relocated to Charlotte, N.C. The Chants will host Jacksonville State on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C.
Volleyball: Headed to Greensboro, N.C. as a team to practice due to the campus closure. The Coastal Carolina Classic, which was scheduled as a home tournament this weekend, will be held at Fleming Gym on the campus of UNC Greensboro on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7.
