Coastal Carolina will wrap up its 2020 fall season tomorrow in Texas
CARROLLTON, Texas – The Coastal Carolina men's golf team climbed two spots up the team leaderboard on Monday with a second-round team score of 306, +18, at the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational in Carrollton, Texas.
Dropping 15 shots from their first-round team score of 321, +33, the Chanticleers jumped TCU (630, +54) and East Tennessee State (632, +56) to move into 10th-place heading into the final round of play on Tuesday at 627, +51.
Four of the five Chants dropped their scores on day two of play, led by Tyler Gray and CCU low-round 75, +3.
Sophomore Seth Taylor carded a second-round 78, +6, to go along with his first-round 75, +3, to end day two in a tie for 36th-place overall at 153, +9. After two birdies on Sunday, Taylor shot 12 pars and six bogeys over his second round of play.
CCU's Zack Taylor dropped five shots off his first-round 81, +9, to shoot a second-round 76, +4, to put himself in a tie for 48th overall along with Gray (82-75) with matching 36-hole scores of 157, +13.
Gavin Noble followed his first-round 83, +11, with a second-round 77, +5, to head into the final round of play on Tuesday in a tie for 56th at 160, +16.
Three shots back of Noble is junior Connor Newton at 163, +19, with rounds of 83 and 80.
Oklahoma State (592, +16) shot a low-round 288, even par, on Monday to move up four spots and onto the top of the team leaderboard. Baylor (593, +17), Pepperdine (596, +20), Texas (597, +21), and North Texas (598, +22).
