Women's Soccer Picks Up Road Win at Georgia Southern

Final Box (pdf)

Statesboro, Ga. –
Megan Brouse scored two goals to lead the Coastal Carolina women's soccer team to a 3-0 road win at Georgia Southern.

It was the sophomore's first multi-goal match while scoring the second and third goals of her career.

Brouse got the Chants on the board in the fourth minute on an assist from Caeden Price. It was Price's first assist of her career.

That lone score was enough to have the Chants in the lead 1-0 at the half, despite being out-shot 7-3 in the opening 45 minutes.

It didn't take long in the second half for the Chants to get back into the scoring column as a couple of freshmen teamed up for goal number two. Talana Banks scored on an assist from Maria Folgero in the 50th minute for the 2-0 lead. It was the first goal and assist for both players.

CCU (4-1 / 4-1 SBC) knocked in goal three as Brouse found the back of the net with her second goal of the match on an assist from senior Sunny Sigurvinsdottir. It was her third assist of the season and her career.

Ky Hudson was a star in the goal for the Chants with a season and career-high nine saves. It was her third consecutive shutout this season. She has not given up a goal since the 85th minute on a penalty kick against South Alabama back on Sept. 25.

Both teams were active on the offensive end with the host Eagles finishing with 14 shots, nine on goal, and CCU finishing with 12 shots. Also having nine on goal.

The Chants will be back home for their next match when they host Georgia State at noon on Sunday, Oct. 11 at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
