Chants Welcome Deacs Wednesday Night to Springs Brooks Stadium

Conway, S.C. – Coastal Carolina baseball will wrap up its current four-game home-stand on Wednesday night versus the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. ET under the lights at Springs Brooks Stadium.
 
ABOUT THE CHANTS
• Coastal Carolina enters the midweek contest at 10-5 overall and 10-4 at home at Springs Brooks Stadium this season.
• The Chanticleers have gone 3-2 over their last five games, all of which came last week following a three-game sweep of Maryland (Feb. 28-March 1).
• This season, the Chants are 2-1 in midweek action with both wins coming at home over UNCW (Feb. 19) and Charlotte (March 3).
• CCU is 1-1 in games played on Wednesday this season with a 4-3 win at home over UNCW (Feb. 19) and a 24-7 loss on the road at No. 7 NC State (March 4).
 
ABOUT THE DEMON DEACONS
• Wake Forest heads to Conway, S.C. at 9-7 overall, having lost two of its last three games over the weekend in ACC play.
• The Demon Deacons are 0-3 in true road games this season, falling in a three-game series at Long Beach State (Feb. 21-23).
• The Deacs have been ranked as high as No. 17 nationally this season and were picked to finish in a tie for fourth-place overall in the ACC's Atlantic Division in the ACC's Preseason Coaches Poll.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY
• Coastal Carolina holds a 23-16 advantage in the all-time series with the Demon Deacons which dates back to 1977.
• After not playing from 1987 to 2006, the two teams have played each other every year since minus the 2012 season.
• Coastal has won four-straight over Wake Forest after the Deacs swept the two-game regular-season series in 2017.
 
VERSUS THE ACC IN 2020
• The Chants are 0-1 versus teams out of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) thus far this season, having suffered a 24-7 loss on the road at No. 7 NC State (March 4) last week.
• Following this week's game, CCU is slated to play four more games versus ACC foes in Clemson (March 17 and 24), at North Carolina (April 14), and at Wake Forest (April 21).
 
SNAP OUT OF IT
• Since defeating then-No. 2 nationally-ranked NC State 7-6 in Raleigh, N.C. on April 10, 2019, the Chants are 0-4 versus teams from the ACC.

HAT TRICK FOR GAT
• Coastal Carolina baseball junior outfielder/catcher Alex Gattinelli was named a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week, the publication announced on March 9.
• On March 10, he was named the NCBWA Hitter of the Week and the Sun Belt Baseball Player of the Week.
• Last week, Gattinelli led the Chants' offense by hitting .500 with nine base hits over 18 at-bats. He hit three home runs and drove in 13 RBIs in five games, an average of 2.6 RBIs per game. He also posted a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .526 on-base percentage, and also swiped a base.
 
MIDWEEK PLAY
• This season, the Chanticleers are 2-1 in midweek contests with wins over UNCW (Feb. 19) and Charlotte (March 3).
• Both of the Chants' midweek victories this season have come at home inside Springs Brooks Stadium.
• However, Coastal's lone midweek loss this year came against the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) foe NC State (March 4), the same conference that Wake Forest is a member of.
 
HOME SWEET HOME
• Coastal is 10-4 at home inside Springs Brooks Stadium this season.
• The Chanticleers' first 11 home games of the season all came at home in Conway, S.C.
• The Chants' originally scheduled two road games - at UNCW on Feb. 18 and at College of Charleston on Feb. 26 - were impacted by the weather and moved to Springs Brooks Stadium or postponed to a later date.
 
ON THE HORIZON
• Sun Belt Conference play is on the horizon for the Chanticleers, as CCU will travel to Louisiana for a three-game conferee weekend series this weekend, March 13-15.
• The Chants will be on the road for the opening weekend of conference play for the fourth-straight season, every season that they have been a member of the Sun Belt since joining the league for the 2017 year.
