ARLINGTON, Texas. – The Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team will open play in the Sun Belt Conference Championship at UT Arlington Saturday, March 7 at 3 p.m. (ET).

The two teams have met twice this season with the Chanticleers winning both games. CCU defeated the Mavericks 82-77 in Arlington and picked up an 89-75 win over UTA in Conway.

UTA does own a 4-5 overall lead in the series which started back in 2016, the Chants first season as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. CCU played UTA in its first Sun Belt game with the Mavericks winning 90-69.

UTA (14-17, 10-10 Sun Belt) picked up the opening round home game by finishing as the seventh seed in the conference. CCU (15-16, 8-12 Sun Belt) finished the season seeded 10
th.

The game will feature a couple of All-Sun Belt honorees as David Azore leads UTA in scoring at 14.1 points per game. Brian Warren averages 12.5 points per game and has a team-high 115 assists.

DeVante' Jones, also an All-Sun Belt pick, will lead the Chants into opening round action averaging 16.6 points per game.
Tommy Burton averages 11.8 points per game and leads the team averaging 7.5 rebounds per game and has seven double-doubles to lead the Chants.

Tyrell Gumbs-Frater, who has been shooting over 50 percent on his three-point attempts over the last three games has his average up to 11.3 points per game.

Coastal Carolina leads the Sun Belt in scoring averaging 78.9 points per game and is shooting over 45 percent from the field. The Chants have their three-point percentage up to over 34 percent while also shooting 71 percent from the free throw line.

UTA averages 70.9 points per game, but it's their defense that makes them go as they are only giving up 68.6 points per game, fifth in the Sun Belt.
