Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team gets third consecutive win

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team earned its third consecutive win by virtue of a 4-1 victory over East Carolina on Saturday afternoon in Conway, S.C. With the win, the Chanticleers improved to 5-3 on the season while the Pirates fall to 6-7 on the year.

Coastal earned the doubles point by picking up wins on courts No. 3 and No. 1. On court No. 3, Alexa Tiefel and Flaminia Scara put the Chants in front with the 6-2 win over Victoria Dixon and Hanna Axelsson. At the No. 1 position, Jessie Mount and Somer Dalla-Bona clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Lisa Hofbauer and Sibel Tanik for the 1-0 match advantage.

In singles action, the Chanticleers earned wins on courts No. 6, No. 3, and No. 4 while dropping the point on court No. 5.

Maria Khomchenko put Coastal up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Sofia Anthony at the No. 6 position before Ho Chia Hsia gave ECU it its only point of the contest with a win at No. 5.

On court three, Scara got her second win of the day with 6-2, 6-2 straight-set win over Michelle Ncube.

Mount earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Axelsson at No. 4 for her second win on the day.

The Chanticleers return to action as they travel to Orlando, Fla. to take on Keiser University on Monday, March 9 with the first serve time yet to be announced.
