CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina baseball's
Chase Antle was signed as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Phillies organization on Monday, June 15.
The right-handed pitcher played just one year with the Chanticleers, pitching in three games over the shortened 2020 season. However, he was dominant on the backend for the Chants' bullpen serving as the closer. He went 0-0 with one save and a 0.00 ERA on the year, not allowing a single run over three appearances out of the bullpen.
He threw 1.0-scoreless inning in each of the three games he appeared in and did not allow a hit on the season. The right-handed flame thrower, who hit 99 mph twice versus Maryland (March 1) and also touched 98 twice and 97 multiple times in his three appearances on the year, fanned four batters over 3.0 innings and walked just one while not allowing a runner past first base all season long. He recorded the save with a scoreless ninth inning in the 3-1 win over Maryland.
In his three years at Bowling Green before coming to Coastal as a graduate transfer, Antle went 3-9 with a 6.69 ERA over 42 appearances and 16 starts. He fanned 100 batters over 80.2 innings of work and held his opponents to a .263 batting average.
Antle is the third senior signee for Coastal Carolina in 2020, as
Scott McKeon and
Scott Kobos both signed deals with the Chicago Cubs.
Junior right-handed pitcher
Zach McCambley was selected by the Miami Marlins in the third round as the 75th overall pick in the 2020 Major League Baseball Draft on June 11.
