GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina University baseball program was recognized for its achievements in the classroom by earning the 2019-20 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, it was announced this week.
 
Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were honored with this year's award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2019-20 academic year.
 
The Chanticleers were one of 64 NCAA Division 1 programs recognized, with a record 424 college and high school teams receiving this year's award. 
 
As a team, Coastal posted a 3.190 grade-point average for the 2019-20 academic year.
 
The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award was created following the 2015-16 season.
