Sigurvinsdottir Receives Preseason All-Sun Belt Honor

NEW ORLEANS – Senior Sunny Sigurvinsdottir has been named to the preseason All-Sun Belt team, the Sun Belt Conference announced today.
The Chanticleers received a total of 74 points in the annual preseason coaches' poll and were tied for fifth with Louisiana in the 11-team field.

The Selfoss, Iceland native was a 2019 first-team All-Sun Belt performer after scoring 12 points on six goals as a junior. Two of her scores were game-winning tallies and over 56 percent of her shots on the season were on goal.
She scored two goals in the Chants' 3-1 win over Jacksonville and scored goals against Georgia State and South Alabama in conference outings.
Sigurvinsdottir was also named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Region (Southeast) first team.
A three-year graduate from CCU, she received her degree in May of 2020 in finance. She is currently working towards her M.B.A.
