JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – The Coastal Carolina University men's golf team shot a five-over 293 in Tuesday's final round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. The Chants finished the tournament with a three-day score of five-over 869 (292-284-293) to finish in 13th place.
Seth Taylor finished as the low-scoring Chanticleer after shooting a one-over 73 in Tuesday's action. He was one of three Chanticleers to finish the day with four birdies including back-to-back on holes three and four. His three-day total of 214 (72-69-73) was two-under and placed him in a tie for 29th.
The low score of the round went to
Gavin Noble who shot a one-under 71 (34-37). Like Taylor, he had four birdies on the day with three of those coming on the front nine. He finished one-over after shooting a 217 (69-77-71) and in a tie for 42nd.
Trey Crenshaw shot a four-over 76 in today's final round. He finished tied for 55th with a three-over 219 (73-70-76).
Garrett Cooper shot a one-over 73 in the round to finish with an eight-over 224 (78-73-73).
Luke Nelson shot a four-over 76 and finished 11-over at 227 (79-72-76). Cooper finished tied for 75th, while Nelson was tied for 84th.
Junior
Viktor Olund finished his season debut with a two-over 74 in the final round. He completed his three-day total at six-over 221 (75-72-74) and tied for 72nd.
Host East Tennessee State won the event with a 35-under 829. Charlotte and Louisville tied for second at 29-under 835. Fellow Sun Belt Conference member Georgia Southern (-24, 840) and UAB (-21, 843) were the other two top five finishers.
The second five finishers were Furman (-19, 845), College of Charleston (-18, 846), Penn State (-17, 847), Virginia Tech (-12, 852), and North Carolina State (-11, 853).
Chattanooga (-6, 858) and Maryland (+1, 865) finished ahead of CCU with Augusta (+18, 882) and Villanova (+38, 902) rounding out the field.
The Chants will be back in action Oct. 17-19 at the Tavistock Collegiate at the Isleworth Country Club in Windemere, Fla. The University of Central Florida will host the event.
