Wilmington, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis had another successful day on day 2 of the UNCW Team Invite, facing off with UNCW in doubles play and Mercer in singles action.

The men in Teal got the day started by battling host UNCW in doubles action. The graduate student-duo of Bastien Huon and Niccolo Rossi defeated Gabe Hurtado and Trey Mallory of the Seahawks 7-6 (8-6) on court two.

On court three, the pair of Guilherme Toresan and Neil O'Connor downed the Seahawks pairing of Davide Innocenti and Danil Ozemoy 6-2 to secure the win over the reigning Colonial Athletic Association champions. The top duo of Federico Garnier and Diego Giraldo suffered a setback to Bekhzod Rasamatov and Reece Falck 6-2.

In the afternoon session, the Chants blanked the Mercer Bears in singles action. On court six, Toresan earned a win over Alexandr Koliev 6-4, 0-6,7-5, while on court No. 5, O'Connor would follow with a straight-set victory over Samuel Barrow at 6-4, 6-2.

On court three, Garnier earned a straight-set 6-1, 6-1 victory over Danny Flynn, while on court No. 4 Rossi defeated Samuel Macleod in three sets 6-0, 4-6, 6-1.

At the top position, the Chants got a win from Huon who earned a win over Gweynard at 6-3, 6-2. To round out the day and complete the sweep, CCU's Giraldo battled all the way back from 5-1 in set three and to win 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (5) over David Georgadze.

"The guys showed tremendous grit and determination today against UNCW in doubles and really carried that over into singles," stated head coach Chris Powers. "Diego's comeback from 5-1 down in the third was awesome. He has been battling injuries for a couple of weeks and he found a way to get the win. I'm really proud of the boys today."

The Chants will be back in action on Sunday at 9 a.m. ET against Davidson and will conclude the fall season in singles play versus UNCW at noon ET.
