CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina volleyball team improved to 5-0 in Sun Belt Conference play and moved to an 11-4 overall on the season with a 3-0 straight-set win (28-26, 25-15, 25-15) over the Troy Trojans (9-7, 2-3 SBC) at the HTC Center on Friday night. Graduate student
Cheyenne Jones led the match with five blocks, while CCU out-blocked its opposition by the count of 11-2.
Along with Jones' strong effort at the net, Coastal's middle blocking tandem of
Ilse Sinnige and
Madison Lowery added three blocks apiece while helping CCU hold Troy to a .194 hitting percentage on the evening.

Jasmine Rivest led CCU with a season-high 10 kills, while Jones pitched in with nine.
Troy took a 15-9 advantage into the media timeout in set one. However, the Chanticleers turned their fortunes around after the break with the help of a 9-2 run, earning them an 18-17 lead. During that momentum change, Lowery's serve ran off six straight points for CCU. With renewed life from CCU, both teams traded point-for-point throughout the final stages of the set until the Chanticleers clawed their way to the 28-26 win. Rivest had five of her 10 kills in set one, with Jones and Lowery adding four apiece.
The Chanticleers' block earned them the 25-15 victory in the second set as they held the Trojans to a .143 hitting percentage. Coastal out-blocked Troy for the second-straight time by the margin of 4-0. Though Troy had more kills than CCU in the second set, the Chants forced Troy into eight attack errors. The teal and bronze had no errors of their own in the set, hitting an impressive .524.
The block party continued in the final set as CCU rolled to the 25-15 win. The Chants earned five more team blocks, including six players getting into the action. On the offensive side, Jones and fellow graduate transfer
Doris Carter led Coastal to the win with a set-high three kills each.

Troy's Amara Anderson led the match with 32 assists, while her teammate Tori Hester had match-high 12 kills.
The Chanticleers return to action on Sunday at noon ET with a showdown against the South Alabama Jaguars. Both teams go into the weekend's final match tied for first place in the Sun Belt East Division with identical 5-0 conference records. The match will be available on ESPN+.
