CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team will face UNCW, Thursday, Nov.18 at 7 p.m. ET at Trask Coliseum in Wilmington, N.C. It will be the first of 14 games the Chants will play on the road during the 2021-22 season.
Despite being less than two hours apart, the two teams have met less than 15 times on the court. It has been a short series, but it is a series the Seahawks have won 10 times. The Chanticleers did win the last time the two teams met back in 2007, holding on for a close 90-86 CCU victory.
CCU (1-0) will be on the court for only the second time this season, as their first game was the season-opener back on Nov. 9, a 101-73 victory over Ferrum. Meanwhile, this will be UNCW's (1-2) fourth game of the season, and second game on its home court.
The Chants had six players reach double figures in the season-opening win led by sophomore
Essam Mostafa who picked up his 10th career double-double with game-highs in points (24) and rebounds (14). Several Chanticleers made their debuts in a CCU uniform, as
Vince Cole scored 16 points in his opening game and
Rudi Williams, who joined Cole in the starting lineup, had 14.
Freshman
Josh Uduje scored 13 points in his first game. Junior
Ebrima Dibba had the type of game the CCU fans have come to expect with 15 points, five rebounds, and a game-high nine assists.
UNCW is led in scoring by Shykeim Phillips (12.0) and Jaylen Fornes (9.3). Jaylen Sims is the team leader in rebounds with seven per game.
