
Women’s Soccer Falls to Seahawks

Coastal Carolina played first of four road matches
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team fell 5-0 to the UNCW Seahawks on Sunday afternoon on the road in Wilmington, N.C. With the loss, including the fall season, the Chants fall to 6-6 while the Seahawks are 2-1 on the year.
Coastal and UNCW nearly finished the opening half of action scoreless, before the Seahawks found the back of the net in the 41st minute to put the host team up 1-0. Grace Lynn-Lato beat the Chants goalkeeper with the assist from Audrey Harding.
CCU used a mixed lineup of veteran players and newcomers to open the spring season getting the younger players playing experience. Ellie Wolski and Santana Pressley fired the two shots with Wolski's forcing UNCW's Anna Johnston to make a save. Along with Wolski, fellow freshmen who saw significant action on the pitch included Carleigh Frilles, Taylor Tolson, and Maria Folgero who were all able to get plenty of playing time.
The Chanticleers' Ky Hudson played all 90 minutes of action in goal, giving up five goals while making five saves on 16 shots. The Woodlands, Texas native matched her counterpart in the opening half with each making one save.
UNCW opened up the scoring in the second half as Harding (54th and 58th) added two goals while Haley Magnussen (70th) and Alysa McLaughlin (78th) closed out the scoring for the final 5-0 tally.
Coastal Carolina women's soccer returns to action on Thursday, March 4, as the Chants will travel to Charleston, S.C. to take on College of Charleston. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 6 p.m. ET.
