CONWAY – Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse head coach
Kristen Selvage announced the Chanticleers' 2021 schedule, which will include six home matches and a second trip to the West Coast for back-to-back games versus San Diego State and UC Davis.
The 2021 schedule includes four match-ups in the Southern Conference (SoCon), first-time meetings versus SDSU and Wofford, and former Big South and ASUN foes scattered throughout.
"Our 2021 spring season is right around the corner and the everyday vibe at practice has been focused and intense. This team is fast, fit, and dialing in the strategy," said Selvage. "We are gearing up for a run into the postseason and an opportunity for our seasoned players to finish off their career with a championship. The Chanticleer lax ladies have high hopes and will prove to be an entertaining bunch to watch highlighted with a fiery defense and a high-paced threatening attack."
The Chants open the season on the road against a familiar opponent, as they will take on Radford in a neutral site contest in Clover, S.C. on Feb. 17, before seeking their first victory over former Big South foe Winthrop on Feb. 20.
CCU will host Kennesaw State out of the ASUN in the home opener at Brooks Stadium on Feb. 27.
Coastal will hit the road on March 5 for its SoCon match-up against in-state foe Wofford.
The Chanticleers then return to Brooks Stadium for back-to-back home contests with Davidson on March 7 and Elon on March 13, before returning to the road to face High Point on March 17 and Delaware 21.
CCU closes out the month of March at home as Campbell comes to Conway on March 24, followed by the West Coast swing with a visit to San Diego for a contest versus the Aztecs (March 27) and a neutral site match-up against UC Davis (March 30).
Spring Break will include back-to-back games on the road, as the Chants will take on both in-state foe Furman (April 3) and former conference opponent Liberty (April 10) to wrap up their longest road trip of the season.
Coastal will return home on April 16 to host Mercer, before departing to Florida in its final regular-season road trip versus Jacksonville (April 23) and Stetson (April 25). CCU will conclude its home portion of its schedule with a SoCon showdown with Delaware State on April 30.
The Southern Conference Championship semifinal matches will be hosted by Mercer on May 6 at Five Star Stadium in Macon, Georgia. Two days later, a champion will be crowned when the SoCon Championship final match takes place.
