CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina baseball has had several players earn preseason recognition from both
Perfect Game and D1Baseball heading into the 2021 season. The Chanticleers are ranked No. 23 in the Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll and No. 31 in the Perfect Game preseason rankings.
The Chanticleers had a trio of student-athletes in
BT Riopelle,
Cooper Weiss, and
Parker Chavers named to the Sun Belt Preseason All-Conference team, while Chavers (No. 2),
Nick Lucky (No. 8),
Shaddon Peavyhouse (No. 15), Weiss (No. 18), and
Reece Maniscalco (No. 23), were all ranked among the top 26 prospects for 2021 in the Sun Belt.
Second-year Chants
Eric Brown (No. 1) and
Makenzie Pate (No. 5) are ranked in the top 10 of prospects draft-eligible in 2022, while freshman
Luke Barrow (No. 4) is one of the top five prospects for 2023.
Among D1Baseball's top prospects rankings, Chavers (No. 2), Lucky (No. 9), Peavyhouse (No. 19), Maniscalco (No. 21), and Riopelle (No. 22) all rank in the top 25 for prospects draft eligibility in 2021.
Brown (No. 2) and Weiss (No. 3) are back-to-back in the top five among 2022 draft-eligible prospects, while three Chant newcomers in
Aaron Combs (No. 3), Barrow (No. 4), and
Teddy Sharkey (No. 5) are ranked among the top 10 impact freshmen for 2021 in the Sun Belt Conference.
The Chants will open up the 2021 season hosting the preseason nationally-ranked Duke Blue Devils in a three-game series on Opening Weekend, Feb. 19-21, at Springs Brooks Stadium.
