Junior forward led the league in scoring, ranked third in rebounding
NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina women's basketball junior forward Aja Blount has been selected to the All-Sun Belt Conference third team by the league's head coaches, the conference office announced on Thursday.
Blount, an All-Conference second team member in 2019-20 and preseason All-Conference selection this season, led the conference in scoring at 16.2 points per game and ranked sixth in rebounding with 8.3 rebounds per game. She also ranked second in the Sun Belt Conference in field goal percentage (.472), first in free throw percentage (.865), and 10th in minutes played (32.3).
Blount posted five double-doubles during her junior season, including four consecutive against Sun Belt Conference foes during a late-February stretch. During that stretch, she scored a season-high 30 points at home against Appalachian State (Feb. 10) and later grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds on the road at Georgia State (Feb. 23).
Blount also made an outstanding run at the free throw line during the season as she connected on 19-consecutive from the charity stripe between Jan. 22 and Feb. 10. For her career, Blount connects on 86.5 percent from the free throw line which places her atop the all-time record list in CCU history.
