PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – In a tournament field that includes nine top-50 ranked teams, the Coastal Carolina men's golf team is in 13th place overall after two rounds of play at The Hayt hosted by North Florida at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
The Chanticleers carded rounds of 297 and 308 on Sunday to place in 13th overall with a 36-hole team score of 605, +29.
Sophomore
Seth Taylor leads the Chants with his 36-hole score of 147, +3, as he shot rounds of 74 and 73 on Sunday to place in a tie for 27th overall. The second-year Chant had a consistent first round 74, +2, that saw two birdies and 13 pars but was more up-and-down over his second round of play with four birdies, three bogies, and 10 pars.
Three shots behind Taylor is fifth-year senior
States Fort with his two-round score of 150, +6. Fort, who posted rounds of 73 and 77, finished the first day of play with six birdies, 10 bogeys, one double bogey, and 29 pars to end the day in a log jam at 48th overall.
Both
Zack Taylor and
Tyler Gray turned in identical rounds of 75 and 79 to finish in a tie for 64th overall with two-round scores of 154, +10, while sophomore
Gavin Noble is in a tie for 80th overall at 160, +16, with rounds of 78 and 82 on Sunday.
Playing as an individual,
Connor Newton posted rounds of 74 and 78 to end the day in a tie for 55th overall with a 36-hole score of 152, +8.
Leading the tournament is the host and No. 26 nationally-ranked North Florida with a first-day score of 568, 8-under par, while No. 14 Clemson (569, -7) and No. 1 Florida State (575, -1) are in second and third, respectively.
