MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The No. 16 Coastal Carolina men's soccer team fell 1-0 in overtime to the College of Charleston Sunday night at the Ralph Lundy Field in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
It was a match that saw the Chants dominate from the start of the match but was unable to find the back of the net despite holding a 21-9 edge in shots, including a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. CCU also held a 13-4 advantage in corner kicks with both teams being charged with an offsides call.
The Cougars (1-4-3) picked up the win just over six minutes into the overtime period as Chatham Headrick was able to score on an assist from Jake Nicholson for the overtime winner. It was Headrick's second shot of the match.
Claudio Repetto finished the match with six shots, three of those on goal for the Chants. He had a chance with 12 minutes left in regulation to give the Chants the lead, but his shot bounced off the crossbar negating the possible match-winner.
DZ Harmon had four shots, two on goal, while
Ethan Hackenberg finished with four shots and Andre Rivera and
Emile Rzepecki finished with two shots each.

Tor Saunders picked up four saves in the loss.
Cougar goalie Cameron Smith finished the match stopping all seven of the Chants shots on goal to give Charleston a chance to win in overtime.
The first half saw the Chants' offense come out aggressive with a shot on goal in the first minute of action and it never slowed down. CCU finished the opening 20 minutes with nine shots, four of those on goal, and also had eight corner kicks but could not find the back of the net.
The Cougars finished with four first-half shots, but it was the stellar play of Smith who had four saves to keep the match even.
