NORMAN, Okla. – Coastal Carolina men's golfers
Brady Hinkle and
Seth Taylor were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Divisions I, it was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced.
Hinkle picks up GCAA All-America honors for the second straight season, as the junior has posted a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) over his six semesters at Coastal Carolina.
In 2020-21, Hinkle saw action in four events on the season, playing in two events in the fall and two in the spring. He posted a 74.64 season stroke average over 11 rounds of play on the year and turned in three rounds of par or better on the season, including a career-low round 68 at the AGT Intercollegiate. He finished in a tie for 30th at the Graeme McDowell Intercollegiate in September, carding rounds of 72, 75, and 76 for a 54-hole score of 223, +7, and also placed in a tie for 30th at the AGT Intercollegiate, recording scores of 79, 74, and 68 for a tournament score of 221, +5.
Taylor was recognized as an All-America Scholar for the first time in his career, as he finished his sophomore year with a 3.2 cumulative GPA in 2020-21.
The second-year Chant, who played in all 10 events on the season for the Chants in 2020-21, was named to the All-Sun Belt third team. He posted a season stroke average of 74.10 over 29 rounds of play on the year, carded eight rounds of par or better on the season, including three rounds in the 60s, and shot a low-round 67 at the Stitch Intercollegiate. He also carded rounds of 68 and 69 at the AGT Intercollegiate.
Taylor recorded four top-20 individual finishes on the season, including two top-10 finishes. He finished in a tie for second place overall along with fellow teammate
Zack Taylor in the stroke play portion of the 2021 Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship Tournament with rounds of 76, 72, and 75 for a 54-hole runner-up score of 223, +7. He also posted a sixth-place finish at the AGT Intercollegiate with rounds of 73, 69, and 69 for a 54-hole score of 210, -6, and was the top CCU golfer at The Hayt, placing in a tie for 18th overall with rounds of 74, 74, and 71 and a 54-hole score of 218, +2.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA.
In addition, they must participate in 40-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
