Chants Begin Conference Play at Texas State

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team looks to return to the win column as they begin conference play on the road at Texas State Thursday night. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. ET from San Marcos, TX.

Fans can follow all the action via Live Stats or on ESPN+.

The Chanticleers are coming off a 2-0 road loss to Richmond last Sunday afternoon. Carleigh Frilles looked to put CCU on the board first but her shot in the fourth minute was off-target to the far left. Richmond took its first shot just a minute later, but neither team was able to convert in the first half.

Richmond notched its first goal of the contest 13 minutes into the second half and just seven minutes later, the Spiders' Molly Wierman put the hosts up 2-0.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
  • The Bobcats finished the 2020-2021 season with an overall record of 4-12-1 and 4-4-0 in conference action and was picked sixth in the 2021 Sun Belt Preseason poll in August.
  • TXST's sixth-place finish in the preseason poll was the lowest that the Bobcats have been selected in a preseason poll since 2017 when the team was picked seventh but ended up finishing in second.
  • The Bobcats return 19 players from last season and welcome eight newcomers. Kiara Gonzales is the top returner after finding the back of the net two times. She and Olivia Wright were both credited with two assists.
