Crenshaw Shoots 67 in Second Round at Badger Invite

VERONA, Wis. – The Coastal Carolina University men's golf program equaled its' first-round score of 298 in Monday's second round of the Badger Invitational and will enter Tuesday's final round 13th with a 20-over 596.
 
Freshman Trey Crenshaw, playing in his first collegiate tournament, fired a five-under 67 in today's second round which featured five birdies and 13 pars on his way to carding CCU's low score. Starting play on the 10th hole in today's round, the Lancaster, S.C. native ran off four consecutive birdies on holes 11, 12, 13, and 14 on his way to a score of 32 on his first nine holes.
 
He made the turn and had pars on the first five holes before his final birdie on hole six. He then completed his round with three more pars. The round of 67 is the fifth lowest 18-hole score in program history and he is the 46th player to shoot that score in program history. Although playing as an individual in this event, he does enter the final round tied for 10th with a two-under 142 (75-67).
 
Seth Taylor had another solid outing in Monday's round finishing with a one-over 73 to give him a two-day total of two-over 146 (73-73). He stands tied for 30th following today's round.
 
Gavin Noble shot a two-over 74 in Monday's action, which mirrored his 74 in Sunday's first round. He has a two-day total of 148 which places him tied for 40th at four-over.
 
Garrett Cooper and Tyler Gray shot a 75 and 76 respectively in today's action. Cooper is tied for 59th heading into the final round at eight-over 152 (77-75) while Gray is 12-over with a 156 (80-76) and is in a tie for 72nd.
 
Connor Newton shot a six-over 78 in today's action and will move into the final 18 holes tied with Cooper for 59th with an eight-over 152 (74-78).
 
Illinois State made the big move today shooting a 15-under par for the round to move into first place with a 17-under 551. Sam Houston shot five-under in today's action, but fell to second where they are only four strokes back of ISU with a 13-under 563. Host Wisconsin had the second-best day shooting an eight-under on their home course. They moved into third at five-under 571.
 
Cincinnati (-2, 574) and Iowa State (-1, 575) hold down the fourth and fifth spot heading into the third round.
 
The second five consists of Northern Illinois (E, 576), Eastern Michigan (+7, 583), South Dakota State (+9, 585), with High Point and Abilene Christian tied for ninth at +13, 589.
 
Toledo (+16, 592) and Augusta (+18, 594) are in front of CCU with Xavier (+35, 611) rounding out the field.
