WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team fell on the road at No. 10 nationally-ranked Wake Forest 6-1 in the Chants' 2022 spring opener on Saturday morning at the Wake Forest Tennis Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The CCU duo of Neil O'Connor and Guilherme Toresan suffered a 6-2 setback to the team of Siddhant Banthia and Matthew Thomson 6-4 at the No. 3 doubles spot while the super senior team of Diego Giraldo and Federico Garnier fell 6-4 over the tandem of Eduardo Nava and Filippo Moroni at the No. 1 flight. The graduate student duo of Bastien Huon and Niccolo Rossi would have their match stranded at the No. 2 doubles spot with them leading 5-4.

The Chants fell in straight sets on courts No. 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 to start singles play as the Demon Deacons clawed their way out to a 6-0 lead in the match.

At No. 1, Huon battled Melios Efstathiou for every point before suffering a 6-3, 6-2 straight-set loss to allow the Demon Deacons to complete the singles sweep and pick up the 7-0 match win.

The Chanticleers (0-1) will return to action on Jan. 29 for its home opener against The Citadel. The match is set for a 10 a.m. ET start time.
