CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's indoor track & field has not one but two student-athletes ranked in the top-50 nationally among their respective events in
Melissa Jefferson and
Alexis Glasco.
Jefferson shattered the previous 60-meter dash CCU school record of 7.39 held by Erica Peake (2013) with her first-place time of 7.29 in the finals heat on Saturday at the Gamecock Opener. Her personal-best time ranks sixth nationally overall.
Glasco also ranks in the top 50 in all of NCAA Division I, as her third-place time of 7.45 in the 60-meter finals, which is tied for third all-time in CCU history with Chasity Johnson (2007), is 48th overall nationally.
The freshman's fourth-place mark of 8.48 in the 60-meter hurdles, which is also the third-best time in Coastal history, ranks 43rd nationally after this weekend's meets.
The Chanticleers will be back in action this week, as CCU will return to South Carolina and Columbia for the Carolina Challenge on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 21-22.
