CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team fell at home against Wofford 6-1 in the Chants' 2022 spring season opener on Sunday afternoon at the Lynn Stevens Tennis Complex.
Anna Babayan and
Valentina Urelli notched a win for the Chants in No. 3 doubles by a 6-4 margin over Breda Brennan and Brianna Wilbur. The Terriers won two of the three doubles matches.
The Terriers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after straight-set victories on courts four and six. Coastal Carolina got on the board when
Victoire De Samucewicz defeated Lilie Steryous in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
Mathilde Tranberg forced a third-set tiebreaker in No. 1 singles against Lily Woods, but dropped a hard-fought match 4-6, 6-2, 10-12.
The Chants will return to the court on Friday, Feb. 4, when they travel to face Clemson at 1 p.m. ET
