CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina head softball coach
Kelley Green announced the addition of program alum
Kassidy Smith as a volunteer assistant coach for the Chanticleers program.
"We couldn't be happier to have Kass back in Conway," Green said. "She was the epitome of what a student-athlete should be both on and off the field and she will be a great mentor to our players."
Smith spent four years on the CCU squad (2017-20) where she was named to the 2019 Sun Belt All-Tournament Team and a two-time Sun Belt Player of the Week (March 2 and 7, 2019). She was the only Chanticleer to appear in all 60 games during the 2019 season. Smith led both the team and conference with 15 home runs and had a team-high 37 runs batted in while batting .265 and notched 43 walks.
"There is no question that she will make a huge contribution to our program in her new role and, we all look forward to working with her," Green added.
Following her graduation from Coastal Carolina, the Collinsville, Illinois native finished as the all-time school record holder with 118 walks and 41 hit by pitches while also finishing as the all-time single-season leader (2019) with 43 walks and 18 hit by pitches. Notably, Smith also sits fourth all-time with 38 home runs.
During her time as a student at CCU, Smith was the President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and co-President of the Honors Student Council. She also represented CCU as a Sun Belt Conference SAAC representative along with being a member of the Intercollegiate Athletic Committee.
