GREENVILLE, N.C. – Coastal Carolina's
Molly Jones just missed winning her third meet of the 2022 fall season, while
Tomas Duncan paced the men's team on Friday, October 14, at the ECU Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C.
The women's team finished fifth overall with a total of 120 points, while the men's team placed sixth overall with a total of 176 points.
Elon won the team championship in the women's 6k with 59 points, while the College of Charleston (65), George Washington (77), and East Carolina (80) finished second through fourth, just in front of the Chants.
George Washington took home the team title in the men's 8k race with 24 points, finishing ahead of Elon (63), East Carolina (66), VMI (144), and the College of Charleston (165).
Jones led the women's team with a runner-up finish, as she crossed the finish line in the 6k run with a time of 21:12.73.
Placing 18th overall was fellow Chant
Ellie Wolski with a time of 22:50.55, while sophomore
Amilia Wise-Sweat crossed the finish line in 31st overall with her time of 23:44.92, just ahead of teammate
Kylee Denver and her time of 24:08.57, which placed her 36th overall.
Rounding out the Chants' lineup were
Ella Lehmann (24:47.34) and
Ashley Rulison (24:53.98), who crossed the finish line in 50th and 52nd overall.
In the men's 8k race, Duncan finished 31st overall with his time of 26:21.41, while fellow sophomore
Ethan Blackwelder placed 35th with his time of 26:33.11.
Newcomers
Trey Kraimer (27:05.53) and
Hunter White (27:31.04) finished in 46th and 48th overall, while true freshman
Camren Stamp turned in a 60th-place finish with his time of 28:51.16.
Up next for the Chanticleers will be the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships held on Saturday, Oct. 29, in Foley, Ala.
