Three Chants Named to Volleyball Academic All-District Team

Coastal Carolina volleyball continues academic excellence
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina volleyball team had three student-athletes named to the 2022 Academic All-District Volleyball Team, as released by the College Sports Communicators Tuesday afternoon.
Brigitta Petrenko, Lina Perugini, and Christina Nance were all named to the team based on their combined performances both on the field and in the classroom.
Petrenko, a recreation and sport management major, led the team with 1,011 assists and moved into the top five of the all-time career assists with 3,488 just behind former Chant Colette Pawlyk's (1994-97) who ranks third all-time with her 3,650 career assists. The Eger, Hungary, native tallied 50 service aces to lead the offensive attack and was tied for second-best in the Sun Belt Conference, which included becoming the all-time career leader in service aces with 195 to date.
Perugini, who is working on her MBA after getting her bachelor's in public health, led Coastal Carolina with 473 digs and was fourth in the SBC with 4.15 digs per set average. The Bethlehem, Pa., native was fourth on the team with 15 service aces. She was named second-team All-Sun Belt for her performances on the court this season.
Nance, a fifth-year student-athlete completing her master's in information system technology after getting her bachelor's degree in information technology, finished with 126 kills on the offensive attack, while leading the defense from the middle blocker position with 94 total blocks with 67 being assisted and 27 solo.
To be considered for the award, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 grade point average on a 4.0 scale at their current institution. The nominees must have also participated in 50 percent of the team's games at their listed position.
The three Academic All-District honorees will now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot where first, second, and third-team Academic All-America honors will be announced in December. The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions; NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and the NAIA.
