Late Run Pushes Wofford Past CCU
Abraham scores a career-high 14 in the loss

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Junior guard Henry Abraham scored a career-high 14 points, but it was not enough as Coastal Carolina lost at Wofford 71-61 Tuesday night at the Richardson Indoor Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C.

The Chanticleers (4-4) held as much as an eight-point lead three times in the second half, the last after a Jomaru Brown lay-up pushed CCU's lead to 57-49 with 8:28 left in the game. Wofford began to chip away at the lead and finally passed CCU on a Jackson Paveletzke three-point field goal to push the home-standing Terriers in front 59-57 with five minutes left in the game. Wofford never trailed again.

The Terriers moved to 6-4 on the season, with all six wins coming at home in the Richardson Indoor Stadium.

Jomaru Brown scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half to join Abraham as the only two Chants to reach double digits. Wilfried Likayi finished with nine points and a team-high seven rebounds.

The Chants started out the game shooting almost 60 percent from the field in the first 10 minutes of the game but cooled off as the game moved on, only shooting 39.4 percent for the game. CCU only shot 16.0 percent (4-of-25) from the three-point line and did not get to the free throw line many times, hitting five of their six attempts.

Wofford's two leading scorers did most of the damage on offense for the Terriers. Paveletzke scored 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half, while B.J. Mack was the workhorse in the paint for Wofford scoring 18 points. Carson McCorkle came off the bench to score 12 points and grab a team-high seven rebounds.

The Terriers shot a little better from the field, finishing the game shooting 45.2 percent. Wofford, which is known for their three-point shooting, struggled throughout the game, hitting only five of their 26 attempts for 19.2 percent. However, the Terriers made the most of their free throw shooting by knocking down 10 of their 12 attempts.

The teams were even at 32 heading into the locker room at halftime. Likayi scored seven in the first half and Josh Uduje added six to lead CCU in first-half scoring.

McCorkle and Kyler Filewich came off the bench to score 17 of Wofford's first-half points. McCorkle had nine points at the break, while Filewich scored eight.

Coastal will now take a few days off for final exams this week. The Chants will be back in action Saturday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. ET, when CCU will host Regent University at the HTC Center.
