CONWAY, S.C. – On Saturday afternoon, the Coastal Carolina men's tennis team fended off a late rally en route to a 4-2 non-conference victory over the Kennesaw State Owls at the Stevens Tennis Complex.

The Chants started things on the right foot in doubles play.  Niccolo Rossi and Bastien Huon shut out Harvey Conway and Seru Tezuka 6-0, while Federico Garnier and Diego Giraldo notched a 6-2 victory over Kevin Patel and Matthew Terry.

Giraldo tallied a 6-3, 6-2 win in No. 3 singles over Patel, staking Coastal Carolina to a 2-0 advantage.  Carlos Berna Ruiz was dealt a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set loss in the fourth flight by Conway.  Garnier swept Raul Garcia 6-2, 6-4 on the second court, putting the Chants ahead 3-1 at that juncture of the match.

Rossi came through with the clinching point for the home side, courtesy of a 6-3, 6-4 victory in No. 5 singles over Tezuka. 

With the win, Coastal Carolina improves to 3-1 on the campaign.  The Chanticleers will hit the road for a contest at UNC Wilmington on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. ET.

The next home match for the Chants will be on Friday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. ET against UNC Greensboro.
