CONWAY, S.C- On Saturday afternoon, the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team defeated N.C. Central 7-0.
In doubles action, the duo of
Valentina Urelli and
Anna Babayan blanked the pair of Kennedy Hill and Anaiah Jones 6-0, while the duo of
Paola Landin Lopez and
Mathilde Tranberg dropped the Eagles No. 2 pair of Maria Picazo and Isabelle Exsted 6-0. The pairing of
Megan Hopton and
Jesse Hollins would have their match stranded with the CCU duo up 5-2 at the time.
In singles play, Hollins got the Chants on the board first with a straight-set victory over Jones by a similar score of 6-0. On court No. 4, Landin Lopez would earn a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Exsted of the Eagles before Babayan would secure the win for the Chants with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lafi Joao.
Hopton and Tranberg picked up wins in their respective matches to push the lead to 6-0. De Samucewicz would secure the sweep with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Hill of the Eagles.
The Chants will return to action next Friday, Feb. 11, when they host Presbyterian College at the Stevens Tennis Complex with a first serve scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
