CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team will travel to Charleston this weekend, March 12-13, to compete at the CofC Classic hosted by the College of Charleston Cougars.
The Chants enter the weekend tournament at 8-3 overall after participating in the Georgia State Day of Duals earlier this week. At the one-day event, CCU defeated Tusculum and Mercer but also suffered a loss to the No. 16 nationally-ranked Georgia State Panthers to finish 2-1 overall at the dual.
Coastal has been led by the team of
Ellie Hanford and
Natalie Honzovicova at the No. 3 flight, as the first-year team is 10-1 overall on the season.
The pair of Irena Drobjnak and
Martine Kragholm are 7-4 overall at the No. 1 flight so far this season, while the duo of
Madie Lichty and
Sarah Riedell are also 7-4 overall at the No. 2 flight.
Third on the team in wins thus far this season is the team of
Madison Allred and
Raychel Ehlers, as the duo is 6-4 overall at the No. 5 flight.
Florida Gulf Coast enters the weekend at 5-3 overall after going to the FAU Beach Burrow Bash and picking up three wins against UNCW, Palm Beach Atlantic, and Austin Peay before falling to the No. 12 FAU Owls.
Morehead State will enter at 2-0 after picking up two sweeps against Liberty and Lincoln Memorial back on Feb 26, while Jacksonville enters the weekend at 4-6 after picking up two sweeps against St John's River on March 9.
Eastern Kentucky enters the weekend at 0-3 after participating in a tournament at Tusculum.
